Welcome to Phillis Wheatley High School! It is both an honor and a privilege to serve as the principal of one of Houston's most historic and respected schools. Wheatley has a proud legacy of developing leaders, scholars, and champions, and I am committed to building upon that tradition while preparing every Wildcat for success in college, career, military service, and life.
With more than 20 years of experience in education, I have dedicated my career to creating schools where students are challenged, educators are empowered, and families are valued as true partners. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master's degree in Educational Administration from Concordia University Texas. Those experiences shaped my belief that excellence is achieved through intentional leadership, meaningful relationships, and a relentless focus on student learning.
I believe every student can achieve at high levels when provided with outstanding instruction, high expectations, and the right support. My leadership is grounded in servant leadership, collaboration, and continuous improvement. I strive to create a culture where every member of our school community feels respected, supported, and inspired to reach their fullest potential.
At Wheatley, our work is guided by our theme, "Excellence is the Standard, Greatness is the Goal." This commitment is reflected in three priorities: building strong relationships, strengthening systems that support student success, and ensuring high-quality instruction in every classroom. Together, these priorities create an environment where students are engaged, teachers are empowered, and excellence becomes the expectation, not the exception.
I firmly believe that the success of a school is built through strong partnerships among students, staff, families, alumni, and the community. Together, we will honor Wheatley's extraordinary legacy while creating new opportunities for every Wildcat to thrive.
I look forward to partnering with you as we continue to make Phillis Wheatley High School a place where excellence is lived every day and greatness is achieved by all.
Go Wildcats!
